Overview

Brandt is the best fit-and-finish big in the class: he switches onto guards without dying, protects the rim in drop, and passes well enough to be a genuine offensive hub from the elbow. After a strong summer his stretch shooting looks real, which unlocks the two-non-shooter lineups teams covet.

He's not a self-creating scorer and won't post up his way to buckets, but everything he does travels to winning basketball. The floor here is a starting-caliber connective five; the ceiling is an All-Defense anchor who also spaces the floor.

Pros

  • Defensive versatility. Switches 1-5 in a pinch and anchors the rim in drop. The rare big who doesn't force a coverage compromise.
  • Connective passing. Reads the floor from the elbow and high post; keeps the offense flowing instead of stalling it.

Development Areas

  • Self-creation. Won't generate his own offense against a set defense. Scoring is mostly assisted.
  • Shooting volume. The stretch is promising but low-volume; needs to prove it at NBA range and frequency.
