Caleb Gaskins

2027 NBA Mock Draft v. 1.0 with @CBSSports Adam Finkelstein

Sam's first off-the-board swing, driven by intel: scouts who've been through Miami say Gaskins looks like a monster and a real one-and-done. In high school Sam saw an unreliable three-point shooter who won with mid-post power. He moved his feet fluidly on defense, played hard and rebounded as a roughly 6'8 power forward. Adam calls him polarizing (USA Basketball people swore by him) and points to EYBL numbers of 1.7 assists against 3 turnovers. Adam sees him as best as a fourth or fifth option who cuts, screens, defends and rebounds. He's also young for his class, and Adam says he doesn't need to score 20 a game to leave after one year.

Way Too Early 2027 NBA Mock Draft

Calls Gaskins a physical 6'8, 220-lb forward with good athleticism and a high motor who loves playing through contact and finishes well at the rim — the kind of physical depth piece he says NBA frontcourts need.

Way Too Early 2027 NBA Mock Draft

Calls Gaskins the most impressive player on Team USA's U18 roster this summer: about 6'7 and 205, likely a power forward at Miami, and a great defender and explosive athlete who rebounds and finishes physically with good touch. His three (28% in EYBL play) is the issue; if it develops he's a top-10 pick, if not, Koa Peat at 30 could be his floor.
