JJ Andrews

2027 NBA Mock Draft v. 1.0 with @CBSSports Adam Finkelstein

Sam likes Andrews' defensive motor, rebounding, hands and ability to switch onto wings, and says his lefty shot looked real in Arkansas' Bahamas trip. If a 6'8 scorer and cutter hits 36-38% from three, Sam sees a first-rounder. Adam says his best high school trait was getting downhill as an early bloomer who won back-to-back Peach Jam titles. Adam had flagged a wrist flaw in his shot, and Andrews reached out to him to fix it. Adam would be surprised if 37% from three holds up as a freshman, but says it would change his trajectory. He also wonders whether Arkansas has enough minutes for both Andrews and Toure to leave after one year.

Describes Andrews as incredibly physical and strong for a wing, a capable shooter with very high defensive potential, and a uniquely explosive, lateral, creative mover with the ball. Says he likes him quite a bit.

Calls Andrews a five-star with an interesting play-finishing skill set and a real chance to take on volume as a complement to Billy Richmond III at Arkansas. The big question is how Calipari splits usage among so many talented players.
